Company summary:
Our native plant nursery was established in 1995 as a focal point for action, to give something back, and to heal the planet. We hope to show visitors the beauty and functionality of the plants that grow naturally in our area. They are our natural heritage. These plants have been here since the last glaciation formed the Great Lakes; the wildlife of the area need them to survive. Many creatures that are struggling for survival depend on native plants for their existence and each of us can make a simple and profound contribution by planting them.

Project Descriptions

Tarry Developments Inc. – St. Thomas
We worked with the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority to design a planting plan for a stormwater pond near St. Joseph Highschool. We gave a talk to the students and teachers of their environmental leadership class and supervised the planting of the pond with our plants.

Spring Creek Wetland, High Park, Toronto
For the City of Toronto we worked with G.C. Romano Construction and CH2M-Hill, Gore & Storrie to expand an existing pond in High Park to mitigate increased storm water flows and improve down stream water quality. We advised on the planting plan, grew the herbaceous and woody plants and installed the plants and seeded areas of the site. Wetland, woodland and Prairie areas were created on this three acre site.

Centennial Creek Eco-park – Scarborough
For the City of Scarborough we worked with Landscape Planning and Limnoterra to create a series of three Eco-parks at the headwaters of Highland Creek. The Eco-parks are a combination stormwater management facility and naturalized park system. We designed the planting plan exclusively for native herbaceous plants suitable to the site, including upland/prairie, wet meadow, riparian, marsh, shoreline and deepwater species. 60,000 plants of 70 different species were grown by us and installed on the site. Upland and wet areas were seeded with a variety of appropriate native species. We worked closely with the engineers, contractors, landscapers and landscape architects to ensure the maximum success of our plantings.
